About Estadio Akron
Estadio Akron is home to Club Deportivo Guadalajara — known as Chivas — one of the most beloved clubs in Mexican football and the only top-flight club in the country that does not sign foreign players. The stadium opened in 2010 in the Guadalajara suburb of Zapopan and quickly established itself as one of the most architecturally striking venues in Latin America. Guadalajara is Mexico's second-largest city and a cultural hub for mariachi, tequila (the spirit originates in the nearby municipality of the same name), and a soccer culture that rivals Mexico City in passion. The city is a 3-hour drive from Mexico City and roughly 5 hours from Dallas.
